ベトナム戦争にて、1968 年5月5日に南ベトナムのサイゴン政府軍のみはサイゴン市のダカオに潜伏した北ベトナムの開放戦線を掃討した。南ベトナム政府軍は、グエンディンチュー通りに潜伏していた解放戦線の一人の兵士を銃殺して、死体に集合して検視した。北ベトナムの開放戦線は、1968年1月31日から都市部に対するテト大攻勢により、既に3月31日にはジョンソン大統領は次期不出馬を表明してアメリカ軍は敗退を決定していた。
