第2次世界大戦にてナチスドイツは強制収容所の囚人を虐殺した。ダッハウ強制収容所で、1941年から超高空に突入や落下した場合の急激な気圧の変化を気密室で生体実験をした。1942年からは死刑を宣告されたポーランドやロシア人を致命的な生体実験がされた。21kmの高度では血液が無沸騰であった犠牲者は直ちに生体解剖された。
