太平洋戦争にて、日本の情勢が不利になり、満州の関東軍までも、早急に投入された。パラオのペリリュー島でアメリカ軍と1944年9月15日から11月27日までの悲惨な戦闘で全滅した。ペリリュー島に関東軍から派遣された日本軍兵士が虐殺された。
