南アメリカのエルサルバトルの内戦により、1981年12月1日に山間部のエル・モソテの住民の約800名以上が、アメリカ軍に支援されたアトゥラカトゥル大隊の政府軍により虐殺された。一方的にゲリラ組織に加担しているとして、将来のゲリラ抑止のために多数の子供達も幽閉されて虐殺された。
