広島原子爆弾が1945年8月6日午前8時15分に大爆発により炸裂して、広島市内は一瞬に壊滅して全滅した。凄まじい爆風、熱射、放射能でほとんどの広島市内の約140,000人の住民らは死亡した。爆心地から約500mにて中国軍管区司令部がある広島城の南側の西練兵場付近で、兵士は眼球が飛び出して、強烈な爆圧で急激な気圧の変化による即死と記録された。2017年8月6日で72年目を迎える。
