第2次世界大戦の独ソ激闘にてゾーヤ・コスモデミヤンスカヤは、ソ連側のパルチザンの活動をした18歳の女性であった。1941年11月にゾーヤはドイツ軍の宿舎等を焼き払った。ドイツ兵士は彼女を捕らえ厳しい拷問をして四肢を切断して公開の絞首刑で処刑した。スターリンは彼女を英雄扱いをした。
