ロシア軍の特殊部隊が、1995年3月にチェチェンのサマーシ近郊に突撃して、市民の約300名を無差別に殺害した。1995年4月にはチェチェンのグローズヌイにて、市民を含めて無差別攻撃をした。集積された約900の死体が土豪に放置された。遺族らは、これらの死体をかきわけては行方不明の家族を探していた。離脱と独立を目指すチェチェン自治共和国と阻止するロシア連邦軍とのチェチェン紛争が1994年12月11日から2009年4月15日まで勃発して膨大な犠牲者が出てからも、その後もテロリズム事件が継続した。
