ベルゲン・ベルゼンのユダヤ人強制収容所に取り残されたナチス親衛隊のドイツ人兵士は捕虜となた。イギリス軍兵士の監視下で、大量虐殺されたユダヤ人の死体を回収して、墓地に埋葬させられた。中央の人物は、それを主導したドイツ親衛隊のフリッツ・クライン医師であった。フリッツ・クラインは、ユダヤ人の大量虐殺の1945年1月から期間中に、ベルゲン・ベルゼン強制収容所での残虐行為を主導した刑罰で、絞首刑に処せられた。(「アンネの日記」のアンネ・フランクは、3月前後に上記で死亡した。)
