ベトナム戦争において、サイゴン市から南約135kmのヴィンロン省において、アメリカ軍の第25歩兵師団の兵士らが無差別にベトナム人を掃討した。1970年8月に第25歩兵師団の兵士がライム収穫中であった若年のベトナム人農民らを殺害した。ベトナム派遣中には、第25歩兵師団は22個の名誉勲章を拝受されて、その中隊の一部が映画「プラトーン」の題材になった。
