長崎原子爆弾が1945年8月9日午前11時2分に炸裂して14歳の女子の学徒が長崎市内にて全身の熱傷と放射能の被爆をした。爆心地より約17km離れた大村海軍病院に8月10日に搬入された(写真上)。重傷な壊死したやケドであるも十分な手当もできずに、8月12日には急速に重篤となりベッド上で点滴するも死亡した(写真下)。
