ベトナム戦争にて1968年1月30日に北ベトナムの解放戦線によるテト攻勢が始まった。サイゴンのアメリカ大使館が20名の北ベトナム軍兵士により占拠された。約6時間の銃撃戦により北ベトナム兵の19名とアメリカ兵の憲兵隊(MP)の4名が射殺された。
