東京大空襲により1945年3月10日に膨大な市民を含めた無差別の爆撃された。3月10日の0時8分から東京大空襲が勃発して、強風を伴う焼夷弾により、火災が広範囲に火柱が立ち上った。炭化した多数の不明者の焼死体が散乱した。黒化した遺体が焼跡に放置され貼付した整理番号で区別した。東京青山の付近には、膨大な黒化した遺体が集積された。アメリカ軍による東京空襲は106回にも及んだ。
