日中戦争にて1944年11月4日に日本軍は広西省桂林市の七星岩内における中国軍兵士に対して生物化学兵器である毒ガスで虐殺した。当時でも国際法違反であり、遺体の皮膚は黒化しているものの服屋や皮膚に火傷はない。
