ハンガリーの首都プタペストにて1956年10月23日にソビエト連邦占領軍に対してハンガリー市民が動乱を起こす。ソ連の占領軍は、直ちに数千人の市民を殺害して侵攻した。集団となった市民はその怒りで一人のソ連兵をリンチで殺害した。さらにソ連軍は11月4日に新たに2500両の戦車と15万人の兵士が投入されて鎮圧された。
